    I have heard a lot of praise about the BGE and thought it would be nice to have one,but the price was way to much for me. When I saw the Cypress I thought it looked good and was built heavy and nice. I kept thinking about it for a few weeks and then I caught it on sale so I purchased it. I use it at least 3 times a week and love how the food comes out on it.It also lights very easy and gets up to temperature pretty quickly with lump charcoal. They had an issue with the fire bowl and charcoal plate,but they sent replacements right away.

    I saw this cooker at the local Cabelas store. It was their last one and they were offering a good price on it. It's set up as one HUGE Japanese hibatchi pot -- and that's good. I bought it in January, right at the time of our deepest snows; the only place I could park it was on our covered deck. I've used it twice to smoke salmon. It's easy to light, once you understand what you're doing. Heat comes up quickly, and is easy to control. Haven't used it, yet, for something that takes a long time to cook. Looks like a turkey will be my next experiment. It uses lump charcoal rather than briquettes, which is good, although lump charcoal can throw lots of sparks. The enclosed pot keeps the sparks under control. All in all, I'm happy with it so far. Need to figure out a way to set up indirect heat, though.

    Near the Gulf Coast we like our BBQ, however, the tropical climate is hard on steel cookware. Eventually I purchased a high quality gas grill but was still needed something to smoke with. Recently, I've been looking at the BGE but couldn't justify the high cost and homely looks. I decided to take a chance on the Cypress Grill from FoodFryers.com

    Great choice. The grill came within a week and was nicely crated. First thing that caught me by surprise was it's size. At nearly 3ft tall and 2ft wide and about 200 lbs, this is not a small grill. The Cypress comes with a attractive, easy to clean shiny green black glaze. Sturdy stainless steel bolts connect the hinge assemblies. Unfortunately the hinges and cap are only painted and not powdered coated and already showing a small amount of rust.

    Ceramic grills recommend lump charcoal because of the low ash production when it burns. The Cypress is no exception. Ashes would clog the vent holes in the bottom plate. Small chunks of hardwood are OK to add wood flavor.

    Cooking on this grill couldn't get any easier. Use a charcoal chimney to get the coals started, dump them into the fire ring of the grill and the Cypress quickly comes up to temp. Adjust the vents and because of the grills mass, it will maintain a steady temperature for many hours on a small amount of charcoal. The food comes off the grill with little fuss and very moist.

    I couldn't be more satisfied.
