After emailing Davis Instruments to inquire about a roof mounting, I was told that buying the Vantage Vue 'Bundle' would provide that capability. It did not. The kit would mount the 6250 on a pole or other flat surface, so. . . I had to order the tripod kit to provide the roof mount. The only problem (beside the $60) was another 10 day wait. All that said, once the components were all here, the mounting was very straight forward and simple. The unit is sending data and working as expected. I haven't tried downloading or working with the provided software yet, but will attempt that shortly. Very satisfied with the unit and all components.
