I have had Oregon and Lacrosse equipment and this was to replace the Lacrosse unit which did not have replaceable batteries. I did discover that the Davis unit lost radio contact overnight even though it was within one hundred feet of the transmitter. Connection was regained after replacing the CR123 battery. This unit is very fast in response time and has a vast wealth of information available. I found it very easy to set up and learn to use. Emails to tech support were quickly answered by phone. Impressive.

There is no need to stay up late at night to watch the weather forecast any longer this instrument replaces any weather man. Now all I need is the computer interface maybe I'll get lucky at the Holidays??? Sorry I waited so long to get the unit.

Delivery took two weeks but the installation was easy after I put up the roof mast with materials from my local Ace Hardware. It took about an hour (mainly studing the instruction manuals) to get it up and running with an impressive amount of data read out. I bought Davis instead of cheaper brands with poor customer reviews because I have a Davis rain gauge that was installed on my roof more than ten years ago and it still works. (It has a wired indoors read out.) I expect this station to perform well and it will be useful to monitor and document weather systems here in Florida. I am looking forward to calling up the historical weather data that it stores as well as knowing what is happening at any moment.
By the way, I finally received the shipping notice on the day the package arrived - a week after it shipped.

We replaced a 15 year old Weather Monitor II with this station. We have been concerned about the frequency of changing batteries, how well the solar power works, and having to get up on the roof to install a new system (we are in Western NY). Time will tell how much maintenance will be needed but the install was about as easy as it could be. We are pretty finicky about accuracy so the wind direction and speed have to be on the roof above obstructions. Having everything all in one unit is convenient for the install but if the rain bucket needs regular maintenance climbing up to do it will be an issue. Ideally, having the ability to keep wind separate from rain and temp would have been ideal but this unit is much more reasonably priced than buying everything necessary to do so.
Having said all of that so far our temps are very close to our other thermometer and the rain will probably be more accurate as well. The display is great. You really never have to do anything to get all the information you need. There are a number of viewing options to provide more detail about any one weather metric. There are also charts and other details that you can customize. We have not done much with the custom views and that can be a little confusing. As of yet we have not invested in a data logger but that will probably be next, the price for these seems pretty steep right now.

WOW!!!! What a super product and nice price too!!!! Very easy to setup. I had it up and running in under a hour! It has replaced my Davis Weather Monitor II which I have had for 20 years. I expect this to run as long. I also got the Weatherlink IP and that is easy to get going too. HomeWeatherStations was awesome to deal with. They kept me up to date on my order all the time! I would recommend them to everyone! Thanks HomeWeatherStations!

Worth every penny, the Davis Vantage Vue packs a dizzying amount of data for the price. I have the unit perched outside our remote mountain cabin. Using the Davis Vantage Vue with the optional WeatherLink Internet Data Logger, the unit operates completely autonomously, allowing continuous monitoring from anywhere in the world. Accurate and durable, it's also really easy to operate. I've had cheaper weather stations that have frankly crapped out after limited use. This baby just keeps on doing its thing. I highly recommend it.

It appears that most of the features are limited to the USA and europe.I am aware that Australia is only a very small portion of your marketing geographic. Is it therefore possible to get a programme upgrade to enable auto features for Australia?

The Vantage Vue wireless system replaces a 12-year-old Davis Weather Monitor II (wired) system that we have enjoyed throughout its life. Replacing the old system (removing sensor array and data displays) and installing the new Vantage Vue took less than 90 minutes from opening the box to seeing data roll in. I am most impressed with the small size of the sensor array, the strength of signals to the display (works everywhere in our home), and the sophistication of the new data display with many parameters that answer most every conceivable question about what's going on outside. Great product, and especially at this price!

Davis Vantage Vue is very easy to install and setup. Directions are easy to follow. Instrument seems to be accurate within 2%of local weather forecasts and NOAA. I would highly recommend this system to anyone. Price is affordable and should be the first weather station to purchase.
